Germany AmazonAccording to marketplace sales data of Amazon that has been leaked by sellers, Amazon Germany currently makes up 27% of Germany’s total e-commerce revenue. An email containing insights into the total turnover of the German Amazon has accidentally revealed this information to the marketplace retailers. This information was previously kept secret.

Conclusions regarding the total turnover of online sellers on Amazon Germany can be drawn with this information. The gross revenue of Amazon.de is approximately 10.25 billion euros. This amount can be calculated as Amazon provided the following information: “50% of the marketplace's revenue is generated on Amazon.com. The .com-site generates revenue that’s seven times as big as it does on Amazon.de, with just half as many merchants.”

Jeff Bezos, CEO of Amazon, announced two months ago that of all the marketplace’s merchandise sales, 58% is generated by marketplace retailers. In 2018, the company’s total sales were worth 277 billion dollars, which would account for 160 billion dollars of worldwide marketplace sales.

Amazon.de below expectations

Amazon Germany appears to be generating less revenue than previously anticipated by many e-commerce experts. Amazon.de’s sales were forecasted to be worth over 18 billion euros. However, that value is now estimated at approximately 14.5 billion euros.
