\"Food\"According to DigitalCommerce360, analysts say that Amazon’s grocery sales could exceed Walmart’s in the years 2030-2035. However, they will have to either acquire or build thousands of brick-and-mortar shops to make this happen.

Amazon’s acquisition of the Whole Foods Market reaches beyond 13.7 billion dollars in 2017. Amazon wants to dominate the food sales in the United States and is planning to open dozens of grocery shops there. They want to become the market leader in the customer’s demand for food, according to former Amazon executive Brittain Ladd.

A report from the Wall Street Journal states that by the end of 2019, Amazon has planned to launch a chain of grocery shops in Los Angeles and wants to open shops in San Francisco, Seattle, Chicago, Washington D.C. and Philadelphia as well.

Currently, Amazon is dominating in the online sales of grocery products. They have captured 30% of all online spending on groceries in the US, during the first months of 2018. Online grocery sales in the US represent 5.5% of all grocery sales last year, but are expected to grow to 6.3% in 2019.
