Last-mile logistics provider DHL Group and Lidl have started a partnership to make shopping more convenient. As a part of this deal, about 500 DHL Packstations will be built at Lidl stores in Germany. According to both companies, the co-operation has an eye on the future and is proof that online and offline shopping does not have to be contradictory.

\n

With 500 DHL Packstations that will be built in Lidl stores across Germany later this year, customers of the supermarket can receive and send their DHL parcels while shopping for groceries. A test with the integration of pick-up options for shipments from the online Lidl shop in around 80 branches will be tested in the Rhein-Neckar area.

\"The partnership will benefit all sides, especially our customers, as more DHL Packstations are built in easy-to-reach and attractive locations,\" says Martin Linde, Sales Manager of DHL Group's German Mail and Parcel division. The two parties state that their co-operation is one of the largest strategic partnerships of DHL within the retail sector. The automated packing stations arevery beneficial to customers, as they are easy to use and available 24/7.

At the moment, DHL Group has a network of 3700 DHL Packstations in Germany, as well as about 27,000 sales outlets. More than twelve million customers in Germany have registered for the Packstation service.
