Now, eligible merchants can make a small code change to accept PayPal through the online payment platform. Therefore, the wallet has to already be enabled on the company's site. It means that any online shopper who wants to check out using Google Pay has the option to select PayPal and make the purchase.</span></p>\n<h6><b>Defragmentation of mobile wallets</b></h6>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The integration could help to decrease the defragmentation of mobile wallets, especially at the checkout. According to </span><a href=\"https://www.businessinsider.com/google-pay-will-accept-paypal-through-mobile-wallet-2019-6?international=true&amp;r=US&amp;IR=T\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Business Insider</span></a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, \"Although the app hit 100 million downloads in April 2018 — a few months after its rebrand from Android Pay — its engagement is still struggling. Google Pay counts relatively low engagement and made up just 6% of US mobile wallet transactions. Compared to its main peers Apple Pay (77%) and Samsung Pay (17%), that is very low.
