New Russian marketplace SPUTNIK is set to launch this autumn. According to the platform, it aims to sell \"trustworthy\" goods to Russian consumers. The product range will consist of a wide range of goods, including clothes, footwear, accessories, and household equipment. Vladimir Stupnikov, CEO of SPUTNIK, attributes the planned launch to the increased customer demand for inexpensive goods, imported from China. The eagerness of Chinese online retailers and suppliers to supply the large, fast-growing market in Russia is an important reason too.

SPUTNIK is currently focusing on contacting European sellers to join the marketplace. The company aims to expand the platform to a global level, allowing cross-border, overseas, sellers to reach Russian consumers.

Joining SPUTNIK

According to Tamebay, sellers who wish to sell cross-border into Russia and other new territories can send their seller request to apply for joining the SPUTNIK platform. The marketplace's development team will take up to three days to review an application. The marketplace is looking for merchants with existing mobile apps that can be used to personalise the shopping experience of the customer. That way, merchants can target individual shoppers with promotions, discounts and tailor-made communication.

Global availability

To be available to more than Russian sellers, the SPUTNIK platform will be available in English, Russian and Chinese for seller accounts. The launch of the site will be in the native language of the Russian consumer. However, there are plans to implement English and Chinese in the near future.
