Artificial intelligence chatbots have been successful since the triumph of ChatGPT, and it was expected that Google would soon bring its version. However, despite being implemented in over 180 countries, Europe halted its implementation until certain doubts regarding data collection were clarified, but now it is available to us.

Bard is similar to ChatGPT but has a distinct advantage: it is not limited to information until 2021 and shares the same database as Google, making it an even more powerful tool.

The law on Artificial Intelligence has not yet come into effect in the European Union, but certain existing regulations impacted the introduction of Bard, as confirmed by the Irish Data Protection Commission, the main European data supervisor for the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

They state that the lack of detailed information and the absence of a data protection impact assessment or supporting documentation led to no decision being reached. Nonetheless, Google has been requested to provide a detailed assessment report that addresses those points and answers additional questions.

Google aims to legalize Bard's data handling in EU

When the requested documentation from Google was delivered, it was promptly shared with European data agencies for further review of Bard's access to Europe, and finally, it is now available.

Bard has landed in Europe with significant improvements for enhancing the user experience. These include the ability to change the tone and style of responses, pinning and renaming chats, reciting responses aloud in over forty languages, generating links to redirect to AI responses, and more.

Furthermore, Google has recently announced the integration of Bard with Google Lens, allowing users to share images with the AI and export programming code generated by the chatbot to the collaborative, integrated development environment (IDE), Replit.
