People all over the world are going outdoors. Hiking, cycling, walking or skiing, we are
challenging ourselves in many ways. We want to explore the world and travel to see the
unique places our earth has to offer. We exercise, climb, raft and run to experience the beauty
and thrills of nature. Doing so requires proper preparations, as not all weather conditions fit
normal clothing. The outdoor clothing market has been growing, developing itself massively,

over the past couple of years. People who enjoy going outdoors got into this business and
came up with all kinds of new innovations. Swedish Pernilla Nyrensten is one of these
entrepreneurial outdoor people. She is co-founder of RevolutionRace and is talking to us
about what it is like to be a young brand in the outdoor apparel business.

The D2C business model is working well for you. We started in our home market: Sweden. We had a global vision
What did the outdoor apparel market look like before from the start, even when we received advice not to expand

In my opinion, the outdoor apparel market was very conserva- ‘Become strong, build a firm backbone’ - that was the mantra

more fashion into the industry and to get rid of the boring same in Sweden from the start, we were profitable in the first week in
old products. That is why we focused more on patterns and Finland and Norway.
