ALL IN THE FAMILY
ow great is it when you start a business, and after many years, it remains a
family-owned company with a turnover of more than one billion dollars? It
Htakes me back to the 1980s with exciting series such as Dynasty and Dallas.
They also showed family-owned companies with, for the time, exciting events that
kept people glued to their televisions. In real life, it’s probably less spectacular than the
escapades of the Carrington and Ewing families.
In this issue, we have a great family cover story about BISSELL. It is about how the
first female CEO of the United States, Anna Bissell, started her own business in
household cleaning devices. Nowadays, every household in the United States owns
at least one BISSELL device. BISSELL’s European Commercial Director, Vincent
Huinck, explains how BISSELL is ready to conquer the European market and why the
new branded EU online shop is essential for achieving that objective.
Furthermore, Kreta Öl is a family business that sells genuine and organic Greek
products. This has led to a successful online business in which the father of the family
is still one of the biggest success factors. He is the Blake
Carrington of this century and keeps a constant eye on the
quality of the products by staying in contact and testing the olive
COLOFON
oil right at the source with his producers.
The lesson we can learn from both companies is that continually
being relevant to your target group is key for long-term success.
BISSELL does this through innovation and by following the
changing needs of modern households. Kreta Öl does it by only FOUNDER & PUBLISHER JEROEN LEENDERS
supplying high-quality products. Maybe the Carringtons and the
EDITOR-IN-CHIEF THOMAS VAN MOSSEL
Ewings also need to adapt to the changing needs of our society
to keep their family businesses running? EDITORS SANNE LEENDERS, LAURA MARTIN
