E-COMMERCE RECOVERS FROM BAD START IN 2022

he end of 2022 is already nearing, and it is good to see that e-commerce
T is recovering from a slow start. For the first time since the beginning of
online selling, we saw a decline in online sales at the start of this year.

A lot of external factors like the war, increasing prices, and the lack of consumer
confidence through this all had a bad influence on our sector as well. However,
since July, we’ve seen that sales went up again, which may lead to an overall growth
percentage of 5% at the end of this year. But who can tell? We live in an extremely
insecure world, and nobody can tell when and where this all ends.

As the end of the year is coming soon, all online retailers are preparing, as always,
for important dates such as Black Friday, Cyber Monday and, of course, Christmas.
Last year, Q4 2021 was the biggest yet for cross-border and e-commerce sales,
and if everything trunks out well, this year will be even bigger. Therefore, there are
many conversion opportunities to take advantage of.

However, for the upcoming last few months of this year,
e-commerce brands have to plan their sales in the current
turbulent economic circumstances. Currently, inflation and
the cost of living in most of the world’s leading markets are
putting pressure on the consumer. Meanwhile, a rise in the COLOFON
cost of production and supply chain is forcing brands to re-
            evaluate their merchandising strategies.

Huisman Equipment, for example, is focusing their strategy FOUNDER & PUBLISHER JEROEN LEENDERS
on the servitisation of their customers. Their client’s success
                                                                 EDITOR-IN-CHIEF SANNE LEENDERS

above their own profitability. In this issue, you can read EDITORS RUUD DEN ROOIJEN, FRANK CALVIÑO,
