DHL no longer accepts parcel shipments to Great Britain and Ireland due to the interrupted transport routes. A company spokesman announced on Monday. The Eurotunnel for passenger and freight traffic is currently closed and will probably stay that way for at least 48hrs. The same applies to the ferry ports.

The transport routes to Ireland, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man are also affected by the interruption in traffic connections. France and other European Union countries have closed the borders with the United Kingdom. Due to the rapid spread of the new COVID variant. This means that trucks can no longer cross the English Channel.

"For this reason, we are unfortunately forced to impose a complete freeze on the delivery of business and private customer parcels as well as goods-carrying letters to Great Britain and Ireland," said the spokesman from DHL. Letters and postcards to Great Britain and Ireland will not be affected by this measure until further notice.

Consignments containing goods and bulky goods would have to be returned to the sender due to a lack of storage capacity. This may affect shipments that were posted over the weekend, said the DHL spokesman.
