MediaMarkt is working on a marketplace function for the Dutch and Belgian web shops. The MediaMarkt Marketplatz can already be visited on the company's German website. MediaMarkt has built a new web platform, which has already been launched in Germany, Austria and Spain.

The Netherlands is up next

The Netherlands is the next country where the new platform will be put into use. "I'm really looking forward to that because much more is possible with it. In Germany we already have a marketplace integration on the website, which is the first country for MediaMarkt to which external partners are connected. We intend to do the same. do in the Benelux when the new platform is launched here," says Shariar Khalili, Digital Director of MediaMarkt Benelux.

Marketplace for retail partners

In Germany it is already possible for suppliers to register for the online marketplace, which is still in beta phase. Furthermore, for products sold on the site, you can immediately see when they are offered by a retail partner. Potential retail partners can register via a registration form.

Expanding the range

In addition, for the Netherlands, Khalili envisions a closed marketplace. This mainly serves to expand the range. "For example, we can offer a supplier's long-tail range via the marketplace, in order to be able to serve even more customers in this way. Take a specific brand of TVs: we choose to offer a certain part of the range ourselves. the top - you have TVs for 30,000 euros - the manufacturers can offer them themselves via the marketplace. Keeping stock yourself is a costly operation."

At this moment, the marketplace offers integrations with Plentymarkets, Effectconnect and ChannelEngine. MediaMarkt wants to expand its integrations and connections to e-commerce software platforms. To sell on the platform, retail partners are charged a monthly fee of €39, as well as a sales commission for each sale. The commission depends on the product category.
