After months of negotiating, the Dutch food-delivery company Takeaway acquired Just Eat. By completing the takeover, it trumps its competitor Naspers. Just Eat stakeholders now have accepted the Takeaway offer.
Takeaway is already one of the leading European food-delivery companies. The company holds a leading position in Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Germany, Israel, the Netherlands and Poland. It is also present in Luxembourg, Portugal, Romania and Switzerland. Acquiring Just Eat, which is active in Denmark, France, Ireland, Italy, Norway, Spain, Switzerland and the United Kingdom, the company expands its footprint in Europe even more.
Alongside the activity in the European market, Just Eat runs sister companies outside the European borders. It runs Skip the Dishes in Canada, iFood in Brazil and Mexico and Menulog in Australia. Globally, The food-delivery company will still face some serious competition, amongst others Deliveroo, DoorDash, Prosus and uber Eats.
