appleWhen it comes to in-store retail in the USA, Apple Pay seems to be leading the charge, beating PayPal. This might be unsurprising on some levels. Apple Pay does permit you to pay with your phone or watch as a matter of course and they’re largely ubiquitous. Boston Retails Partners latest insights suggest Apple Pay is already the top choice in retail digital payments. 36% of North American retailers accept Apple as a payment option, more than any other digital payment system.

Up to a third of North American retailers accept PayPal. Within next year, more than half of all North American retailers plan to accept PayPal, according to the report. Apple Pay’s acceptance rate is predicted to approach 60% this year.

Apple will likely launch in Finland, Denmark, Sweden and the United Arab Emirates in the coming month(s). Aside from these numbers, it is important to remind yourself that PayPal’s core field isn’t retail. It’s winning elsewhere as recent results display.
