Amazon hires up to 100,000 new employees to support the delivery of goods and critical supplies. As the online demand increases due to social distancing and self-isolation because of COVID-19, Amazon works hard to keep things running smoothly.
Specific product categories see a high increase in demand. Amongst these are household essentials and medical supplies. Earlier, the marketplace platform already announced it temporarily suspends FbA good delivery for all non-essential products. This is partly to save up space in their warehouses for products consumers require the most, such as foods and hand soap.
Hiring more staff indicates Amazon needs the manpower to maintain a good flow for goods. Sellers are still in uncertainty when product delivery can continue as usual. One of the ways to keep coping with the COVID-19 challenges is to hire more new employees, seems to be the marketplace’s response.
Deliveries in France and Italy
The marketplace today announced it will stop delivery of all non-essential goods in France and Italy. This has been announced by the company on WeChat. It is unknown how long this will take place. Earlier last week, Amazon employees in France struck due to the current working conditions.
