PolandPolish e-commerce company Allegro entered the top 10 list of biggest e-commerce websites in the world, in terms of monthly visits. The e-commerce platform from Poland welcomes close to 194 million visitors per month. This is slightly below the number of people visiting Shopee and Tmall.

The Polish e-commerce market is developing at rapid speed. Currently, it is worth more than €11.75 billion (50 billion Zloty). Poland is an important (transit) market for European platforms such as Zalando, AboutYou and Westwing. The double-digit growth numbers benefit these kinds of companies the most. Companies that grew along with the market and help to build it.

Clear market leaders when it comes to monthly visits are Amazon and eBay and AliExpress. Allegro is the only European representative in the top-list.

Company Monthly visits (in million)
Amazon 4600
eBay 1800
AliExpress 856.2
Mercado Libre 634.2
Rakuten 384.9
Walmart 282.2
JD 264
Tmall 202.5
Shopee 195.4
Allegro 193.9

Allegro began with auctions of products displayed by individuals and evolved into a platform on which over 140,000 companies sell, often instead of starting their own online shop. Allegro also sells products itself, raising concern that it might be abusing its dominant position in Poland.
