The most frequently used online stores in France

Today, ecommerceDB news presents an exclusive top ten ranking from the cdiscount.com in France 2021 Brand Report. It includes a preview on some exciting insights into the customer profiles of one of the biggest e-commerce players in France – cdiscount.com.

Amazon is in the lead

The top ten of the most frequently used online stores in France in 2021 are clearly led by Amazon. 69% of online shoppers in France name one or another Amazon URL when asked about which online stores they purchased something from in the past year.

Cdiscount.com comes in second

Local hero cdiscount.com reaches less than half the usage of Amazon’s online stores. However, with a usage of 32%, it leads again by quite a margin over third-placed fnac.com. 22% of online shoppers in France have bought something recently here.

The top four to ten are closer together

The top four to ten are closer together, with usages between 15% and 8%. From a net sales point of view, cdiscount.com is also among the top-performing online stores in France. Generating total net sales of US$2.3 billion in 2020.

Cdiscount.com users live in rural environments

Compared to the average French online shopper, cdiscount.com users are more likely to live in a rather rural environment. 60% of cdiscount.com customers live in rural communities or small towns. Whereas only 55% of all French online shoppers live in such an environment. Furthermore, cdiscount.com users are fans of express shipping and rather technology-savvy. This is compared to the average French online shopper.
