
In 2019, German fashion platform Zalando welcomed 4.6 million new customers. This makes a total of 31 million, an increase of 17% compared to 2018. All of these customers purchased a total of 145 million orders.
The total turnover of Zalando (including its partners) increased to 8.2 billion euro in 2019. This is a 23.6% growth. Zalando's own turnover increased by 20.3%, to 6.5 billion euro.
Most of Zalando's growth is realised in non-German countries. A total of 3 billion is generated in other European countries the fashion platform is active. The DACH-region generates 2.8 billion euro. On average, European Zalando-customers place almost 5 (4.7) orders per year. The average value of a product is €56,-.
For 2020, Zalando expects a turnover growth fo 15-20%. It has also planned to open a new warehouse in Spain. In Fall 2020, Zalando will start facilitating the sales of second-hand clothing. This "pre-owned" clothing feature was tested in Berlin and in the app Zircle for the past six months. The fashion platform also wants to add a new luxury segment to its assortment. It is expected that the value of this segment can triple in only a few years.
