In an effort to offer a more regional shopping experience, Amazon has launched a separate website section. Here, small and medium-sized businesses from Germany and Austria can present their goods on Amazon. With Amazon Kleine Unternehmen customers can specifically discover products from SMEs in their region in their own categories.

In Germany , the product range of SMEs in the individual federal states can be browsed through. In addition, Austrian customers have the ability to find their favorite stores from across the country with one click.

Separate stage for local SMEs is more important than ever

This is currently more important than ever. A large number of trading companies had to close their shops several times during the prescribed lockdowns - which has posed existential problems for many of them. However, the entrepreneurs have made a virtue out of necessity and, with a lot of ingenuity, found new ways to be there for their customers around the clock. Some of them have built up a second pillar online in a short time.

85% of turnover through sales abroad

In 2020, Austrian companies generated over 85% of their turnover through sales abroad with the help of Amazon. Currently, more than half of the products sold on Amazon come from SMEs.

Regionality is an important aspect of shopping online

For more and more customers, regionality is an important aspect of online shopping, which may be due to the fact that, due to the COVID-19 outbreak, consumers spend most of their time at home and in their immediate neighborhood. Thus, it is no wonder that the need to support local companies has grown.
