Sustainability through Collaboration at DELIVER Europe 2025

This week, we had the pleasure of interviewing Rutger Vonk, ESG Program Manager Spring GDS  about the upcoming Deliver Amsterdam event and their partnership with this carbon-neutral event, which will take place on June 4th and 5th in Amsterdam.

¨At Spring GDS, we believe that real progress in sustainability can only be achieved together¨, says Rutger Vonk . ¨That’s why partnering with events like DELIVER Europe, is so valuable to us. It’s more than just alignment of values—it’s about the opportunity to sit down with industry decision-makers and engage in
honest conversations about the challenges and solutions shaping the future of sustainable logistics¨.

This year, we’re proud to bring to the table impactful initiatives like our HVO100 Out the Tank project, customer-specific CO₂ reports, and a Book and Claim model for air transport—tools designed not just to measure, but to empower action.

After winning the Sustainability Award at DELIVER Europe 2024, our commitment to collaborative change has only deepened. Tackling supply chain emissions isn’t something any of us can do alone. But by sharing responsibility and aligning across the industry, we can drive real, lasting impact. Please meet us in Amsterdam on the 4th and 5th of June, stand C40.

  • DELIVER Europe is a carbon-neutral event. How valuable is it for Spring GDS to collaborate with sustainable partners, like DELIVER?

Collaborating with partners who share our sustainability values is vital for us at Spring GDS. True sustainability can only be achieved through strong partnerships, and DELIVER is a great example of that alignment. When we choose partners, we always look for a sustainability match, and with DELIVER, that connection felt natural and meaningful because of the opportunity to engage directly with decision-makers across our industry. These conversations, where we exchange knowledge, challenges, and ideas, really strengthen the collective impact of our efforts.

  • What specific sustainable challenges, and solutions, will you be exploring at DELIVER Europe 2025?  (eg your biodiesel buy-back initiative)

At DELIVER Europe 2025, we will focus on three key projects that support our sustainability goals. First is our HVO100 Out the Tank project, which won the Sustainability Award last year and still helps reduce emissions from road transport. Second, we have started offering customer-specific CO₂ reports. These give our clients quarterly updates about their emissions and help both them and us set and follow sustainability targets more easily. But we do more than just report.

Thanks to this same system, we are now also able to offer a Book and Claim model for air transport. This gives customers a simple way to reduce their remaining emissions by supporting sustainable aviation fuel. We want to make it easier for our customers to take action, not just see the numbers.

  • After winning the Sustainability Award last year at DELIVER Europe 2024, the Spring GDS team talked about the importance of collaboration when it comes to tackling supply chain sustainability. Why do you think this is such an important element?

As we have said before, working together is essential if we want to reach real sustainability goals. No single company can solve the complex problems of supply chain emissions on its own. By sharing ideas, learning from each other, and taking joint responsibility, we can make a bigger and more meaningful impact. This is especially true in logistics and e-commerce, where many different partners
are involved. To build a truly sustainable future, we need strong cooperation and
clear alignment between everyone in the chain.
