International delivery: The faster the better?

With trends as 24-hour-delivery and same-day-delivery popping up all over the globe, many sellers might believe that being located aborad might harm their competitiveness in other countries. But is faster alsways better?

Our research shows, that customers do not necessarily value fast delivery the most important factor when ordering from foreign websites.

Research by ystats.com revealed for instance that online shoppers in most European countries valued free delivery as more important than quick delivery- except for shoppers from Germany and the Nordic countries. German shoppers prioritise fast delivery and being offered the choice of a time-slot, whereas the French and the British seem to value this option less.

Luxury and expensive products are again a different story, as security and quality weighs over both speed and price:  "For a retailer selling luxury apparel or big brands, it is far better to reassure the consumer that the product is deliverd in the best possible network, securely and on time, with no repercussion. Customers are willing to pay for that," stated Mark Eldridge, Choief Customer Officer of Spring Global Delivery Services in an interview with Cross-Border Magazine (order the first edition here for free)
