E-commerce Hungary: €1.65 billion in 2017

HongarijeIn 2017, Hungarian e-commerce was worth 1.65 billion euros, revealed eNet during the E-commerce Hungary conference. This means that, in about 10 years time, the domestic e-commerce revenue grew about 140 million euro, to the 1.65 billion euros it is now.

According to ecommercenews, the Hungarian e-commerce market showed significant growth. Online sales grew 27% compared to 2016. The share online has in total retail turnover has increased as well, with 6.2% compared to 2016. The most important product categories that generate the most turnover and traffic in Hungary are ICT, consumer electronics, clothing and sportswear, toys and gifts and home appliances. One of the popular payment methods in Hungary is cash on delivery. This is the reason a lot of online stores (+/- 73%) in Hungary offer the option to have parcels delivered by courier, which provides customers with the opportunity to pay cash on delivery.
