Temu has expanded its European delivery network through partnerships in Germany, Italy, Spain, and Portugal. The Chinese titan has announced that more logistic collaborations are planned to be revealed during the first months of 2024.

Temu launched in Europe in 2023, following its U.S. launch in September 2022. Based on dropshipping, Temu brings products directly from manufacturers in China to Europe and the USA. Their competitive advantage is reducing costs and times associated with traditional retail supply chains. Temu is backed by the Chinese tech giant and Pinduoduo owner PDD Holdings, which opened an office in Dublin this spring.

Temu’s German and Italian allies

In Germany, the well-known carrier Mail Alliance will contribute its network of 55,000 delivery personnel to the collaboration, according to Temu. The company is Germany’s largest network of private postal service providers, known for its capacity to handle large volumes and swift delivery times.

Meanwhile, in Italy, the responsibility falls to the national postal service: La Poste Italiane. La Poste will collaborate with Temu on initiatives such as PIN code-enabled lockers and local stores serving as pick-up and drop-off points in Italy. The partnership also includes environmental strategies, such as reducing carbon emissions and employing eco-friendly packaging.

Iberian alliance

In the case of Spain and Portugal, Temu has managed to strike a deal with CTT, the national postal service of Portugal operating in Spain through CTT Express, which is expected to play a key role in supporting Temu’s growth in the Iberian market.

But so far, it is not officially discarded that Correos España - the Spanish national postal service - could enter the alliance with Temu in the near future.
