"We are pleased to announce the launch of Walmart Business as an e-commerce site and customer experience designed to empower SMB and nonprofit customers," said Ashley Hubka, senior vice president, and general manager of Walmart Business, in a statement.

Hubka explained that the company's goal with this new launch is to eliminate complexity in purchasing, reduce costs and give customers more opportunities to serve their customers and communities. "Walmart Business is designed to leverage the best of Walmart: our unmatched operational scale, our proximity within 10 miles of 90% of the U.S. population, and the best of our e-commerce, fulfillment, and delivery technologies," the Walmart Business manager reiterated.

Walmart Business offers ‘a selected assortment’

This new service will offer a selected assortment of more than 100,000 items, with categorization and navigation tailored to shoppers.

"As we have talked with customers, they have identified key products for their operations. These areas include office supplies and furniture, food and beverage, restrooms, electronics, classrooms, and facility needs. Walmart Business simplifies replenishment by grouping various items in a way that makes sense for organizations," Hubka has detailed.

In addition, he added, "Walmart Business offers multi-user accounts, giving organizations the ability to add up to five users to a single account." Similarly, customers will also be able to share payment information, order history, and purchasing power across teams.

Qualified organizations can enroll in the Walmart Tax Exemption Program (WTEP), which allows for the automatic removal of eligible taxes during checkout.

n addition, for $98 per year, customers can upgrade to a Walmart Business+ membership. The upgraded membership offers free shipping, no minimum, excluding marketplace and big-ticket items, free in-store pickup and delivery with a minimum order of $35, 2% rewards on orders of $250 or more, and 5% savings on eligible subscription-configured items.

"As we continue to evolve the shopping experience, we are committed to listening to SMB and nonprofit customers to help them address the challenges they face today and the ever-changing challenges of running an organization," Hubka said.

Earlier this month, Walmart announced a deal with Salesforce aimed at increasing sales of its GoLocal delivery service, which drops off purchases at customers' doorsteps, and Store Assist, which helps employees pick and pack orders faster and more accurately for curbside pickup and delivery.

As advanced by CNBC, the services will be offered to start in the second quarter of this fiscal year through Salesforce and listed in its enterprise app store. Walmart launched GoLocal in 2021 and has already made more than three million deliveries. For its part, the company began selling Store Assist last summer.
