At Crossborder Magazine, we enjoy having insightful conversations over a cup of coffee (or tea) with industry leaders shaping the future of international business. In this edition, we sit down with Jeroen Beekmans, Sales and Partnership Manager at Clonable, to discuss the evolution of website translation and internationalization.

Coffee or tea? When and how?
As a true Dutchman, I start my day with a half-hour bike ride. When I arrive at the office, the workday begins with a large cup of black coffee.

Can you tell us about Clonable and your role within the company?
Clonable enables businesses to expand internationally by cloning, translating, and maintaining multilingual websites effortlessly. Unlike traditional translation tools, Clonable automatically keeps websites up to date in multiple languages without requiring manual input.

We make personalizing the clones as easy as possible. For example: with a simple 'exclusion rule' we allow users to exclude the word 'Apple' from translation. German users do not search for 'Apfel', but simply for 'Apple' when they are buying a new phone.

As the Sales and Partnership Manager, I focus on building relationships with key partners, expanding our reseller network, and driving growth by introducing Clonable to businesses looking to internationalize efficiently.

What sets Clonable apart from other website translators in internationalization and e-commerce?
Clonable goes beyond simple translation. While many tools focus on translating content, we ensure that an entire website—including its structure, SEO, and ongoing updates—remains synchronized across different languages.

This means businesses don’t need to manually update multiple sites, saving them time and effort. Additionally, we offer customization options that allow companies to localize their content, making their international expansion more effective.

Next to that, Clonable offers extensive in-person support to its customers if needed.

What emerging trends in digital marketing and website management are you most excited about, and how is Clonable preparing to lead these changes?
AI-driven personalization and hyper-localization are two of the biggest trends. Businesses don’t just want translated content; they want content that resonates with local audiences. Clonable supports this by not only translating but also enabling website customization based on language, culture, and search behavior. Another major shift is automation—companies need scalable solutions, and Clonable helps them expand internationally without adding complexity.

How does Clonable ensure that its platform remains user-friendly for businesses of all sizes, especially those without technical expertise?
Clonable is designed to be as accessible as possible. Some webshops require some technical skills to clone, but the Clonable support team is always happy to help. However, most websites can be cloned by our users themselves.

Most of the time, with just a few clicks, businesses can have a fully functional multilingual site. Clonable is integrated with most CMS platforms, making adoption seamless. Additionally, we work closely with online marketing agencies that assist their clients with setup and optimization, ensuring an effortless experience.

From your experience, what is the most critical factor in converting potential leads into long-term, satisfied customers?
Simplicity and immediate value. Businesses want to see results quickly without complex implementation. When we demonstrate that Clonable can generate a fully operational translated website in minutes, it often speaks for itself. From there, continuous innovation and strong support are key to keeping customers engaged and satisfied.

Could you share a success story where Clonable made a significant impact for a business expanding internationally?
One great example is a Dutch travel company that used Clonable to launch their website in multiple languages within days. This led to an immediate increase in international bookings without the need for extensive development resources. Thanks to Clonable’s automatic updates, their website stays current in all languages, saving them significant time and costs.

What advice would you offer to companies looking to quickly update their digital presence or expand their market internationally using digital solutions?
Start with a flexible, scalable solution. Many companies delay international expansion because they assume it’s complex and expensive. With tools like Clonable, businesses can quickly test new markets with minimal investment. It’s also essential to consider SEO and local market adaptations to ensure a meaningful impact.
